And what a bit of kit it is, the build and design is top class. If you thought the Pro and Pro II range were good this baby blows them away. It's nearly 2ft tall, holds LOADS of media and is as quiet as any Eheim filter I've had. The flow rate, which is easily controled, is really fast which I guess it would be with 2 in take pipes and it pumps 1700 L an hour.

It looks very easy to maintain and clean and even has wheels to save you lifting it.

Overall if anyone was thinking about getting 1 I'd recomend it, it doesn't come cheap though, I paid £240 ( with the media pack), but I have seen them in my LFS's ranging from £300 - £400 so do shop around.

I have been seriously considering buying one. Although I have been slightly tempted to get a Fluval FX5 because it seems to be more value for money. Since you actually have a Pro 3 what would you say? Also I am really interested in water quality. Eheim give you quite a lot of biological filtration with the pro 2 range. What is the water quality like with the pro 3? As in is it crystal clear, just alright, or havn't you had enough time to properly know yet?

It's only been running for a couple of hours so not enough time to tell if it's making any difference to the water quality. In comparison price wise to the Fluval FX5 the Fluval is a bit cheaper to buy but dearer to run, as the Pro 3 runs on 30 Watts where as the FX5 is 48W ( don't now how much a year that will save but i bet it's a few bob ) so over the long run the Pro 3 will cost less.

I also didn't like the Fluval build and design upto the Pro 3, but that's just my preference I guess.

I'm sure the FX5 is a good filter and will do the job well though.

i have 2 pro 3 running on my 6ft they are by far the best filter's ive ever had very quiet and very easy to maintain .....psycho
