My Lfs

Is he a friend? He's a business owner so he's probably got 1 thing in mind...profit. How much do you like you knife, and how much do you like Texan's? It's a personal choice, you know how much room you have and what you can handle.

if a 9inch texas costs the same or similar price to the clown knife, and you want a big texas, then go for it. Personally texas can get nasty so make sure you have tank mates that can live with it.

Your 100G isn't big enough for an Oscar, Jack Dempsey, Firemouth and Texas Cichlid.

Not to mention that the 3 cichlids you have are 'all bark and no bite' compared to a potentially quite aggressive Texas.

Edit: I'd be swapping for a bichir, or catfish or some dithers, adding another cichlid to the pack is just going to increase the risk of problems

I strongly suggest you dont do it, Texas are extremely aggressive fish, I know. At 9" this texas will be a real danger to your other fish, even if they are much bigger than him, trust me he wont see it that way. The firemouth would be toast, the JD probably too and the Oscar well............

Unless of course you happen to have one of the most placid Texas' - which is unusal.

Well there is also this to think about my JD and Oscar came from the same tank as the Texas at my LFS so does that change anything??

The LFS is probably trying to offload the texas as either no one has shown an interest or the fish has been returned due to incompatibility issues,
As i said above if you choose to swap then go for either dithers or bottom feeders as you don't have any more room for territorial cichlids

Yeah your probably right Im thinking about getting ride of the Oscar and th knife for the Texas..

that would give you plenty of room for the three cichlids may still may leave you with huge aggression issues if the Texas lives up to its reputation

Remove the JD and firemouth as well then, Im not kidding when I say that the Tex will most likely kill them. The only way you might get away with it, is if you got a young Texas which would grow up with them about, even then, they can turn very quickly, mine from 5" went for two oscars, who I had to rehome, any shoaling fish and then at 8" his best mate my ghost knife, who he had been with from 3" was his best mate who he hung out with all the time, one day, he decided the entire tank was his and wouldnt tolerate anything else.

Size does not matter where this fish is concerned, if he decides the tank is his, all hell will break loose.
