My Guppies... Seem Happy, But Feeding Issue?

Water Test before I come home and do a 50% water change.

Ammonia: 0ppm
PH: 7.4
NitrIte: 2.0ppm
NitrAte: Between 5-10ppm

As you can see my NitrIte hasn't dropped at all :(

I really hope the water change really does bring down the levels...

I think it is going to be trial and error. Nitrites are really high and you need to get this down with water changes. Take Waterdrops advice above and do several during the day if need be. It is going to be a lot of work but if you dont the fish are going to suffer with ammonia and nitrite burning their gills, eyes and skin.

As to the food, just crumble it as much as can, I may have been overfeeding mine but I fed two small helpings twice a day of tropical food. If you have a net scoop out unwanted pieces to stop it fouling your water.

Water changes are the best way forward, keep us updated and hope it drops for you too.

I Will be making my first water change soon.
I have an extra heater to make sure the water is at the same temperature as whats in my tank. I also have the water treatment also :)

I will be on here as much as I can keeping people updated through the process of my tank :)

Been here since day one...

People are so helpful :D

I have found this site extremely helpful too! Really do keep us updated, it may help you to keeep a log of the water stats and when and how often you are doing water changes so if we ask you have a reference and can keep track of things (it works for me :))

Right all.

Just performed a 50% water change.

Will leave it for 20mins and see how my levels are doing...

I will post the water test results on this page as soon as I do them :)

Fingers crossed!

First 50% water change of the day.

Test results are in:

NitrIte still 2.0ppm
NitrAte: 5-10ppm
Ammonia: 0ppm
PH: 7.4

Nitrite just didn't drop at all... :(

Will do another 50% change when I get home later...

hmmmm with my first tank it ended up being a fish in cycle and for a whole day couldnt get rid of the 0.25 of ammonia. Not sure why the nitrites are not dropping, it is difficult asthey are quite high.. let us know the results :)

Yeah I didn't want to have my tank as a fish in cycle but was kinda forced into it by my cousin! grrr....

I have to pop out now for a bit, but will perform another 50% water change when I get in...

I just want the levels to drop :(

dont worry this kind of thing happens. My fish in cycle was due to me believing in the miracle bacteria bottles that ulitmately didnt work for me.

Keep us posted
