My Fully Cycled Tank

The stuff that looks like grass is probably Vallisneria. It will grow with moderately low light and is a good beginner plant. My NPT is always stocked with easy plants because I am not much good at plants in general. The main grassy plants in this picture are vals.

In this picture there are both java fern and cryptocoryne. The java fern is on the left anchored to the driftwood and the crypts are the things growing up the back on the right side and back down the front of the tank. There are also some crypt leaves visible in the tank with the grassy plants above. This tank also has a fairly solid cover of duckweed, a tiny floating plant that most people don't like. It is the reason that there is a greenish cast to the picture. The lights are coming through the duckweed to the tank below. The floating plants in the picture go by the trade name of anacharis but are really elodea.

This is the flower on an Anubias nana in another tank. I have had it flower about once per year for a few years now.

Tanks looking good Leanne! I'd definately try some Java Fern or Amazon Sword in your tank. Or maybe some sort of Elodea?

Thanks for the info and compliments. I took the plants out at the weekend and tested my water and everything is A-Okay. So thats good

I'll look into all those plants.... and perhaps try a different retailer!!

As OldMan said, the tall grassy plant could be vallis but it looks more like 'fountain grass'. I had that as one of my first plants and it did really well for a few weeks and then started dying. Pity, my fish loved it.
