I just wanted to show off my small (but growing) fishy crew! They are in two separate tanks, now I'm just slowly getting the decor and stocking right

Could someone tell me if the gourami is male?

I think the dwarf gourami is a male as well.

The angel fish looks nice, as does Casper and Pictus.

Even though the neon is on its own, it still has good colour so doesn't look as though it's terribly stressed but I would hold off on getting any more till Casper is moved or he might make any new smaller one's disappear in the night.

The high fins should get a much longer dorsal fin as they mature as well as longer pectral fins. One of my boys has a really long flowing dorsal fin and his pectral fins nearly reach all the way back to his tail .

I like you can't wait till you get your 4ft and will be looking forwards to seeing pics once it's all set up and stocked.

Glad you like the kids I think Pictus is pretty special...purely because he's ADORABLE and I love the eyes and the fins and the spots and when you catch him and he 'chirps'. Just a little facinated with him! He's definately much happier now I put the dwarf gourami and angel in.

Is it normal that my corys are doing nothing? They are all just sitting on the bottom

I can't wait to get the 4ft, I saw the cutest Discus juvi at LFS today...was about 5cm in diameter

They are probably still just getting used to the culture shock of the move to their new home. Have you dropped any food in for them? I know not all fish will eat immediately after being moved but I find cory's are often a little starved from being jammed in the bottom of a mixed tank with a heap of mid to top dwelling fish that have snavelled all the best pickings in the food department. Just give them time to settle in to the new surrounds and they should be off doing their own thing in no time.

Right, your Pictus should be part of a group ideally. Also your Cory's would be far happier on a finer gravel or sand substrate. Don't know if it is something that you have planned for the future but that coarse gravel could harm their barbels around their mouths, which could lead to infections and diseases if they get cut or grazed. Could be the reason behind them not being very active. They like to sift through the top layer of the substrate whilst scrounging. Mine are on fine gravel at the moment but will soon be on play sand and the numbers will be increased. The Gourami is definately a boy, very handsome. I had a pair of the dwarf blues that were stunning. They're now living with Littlemonkey and sound like they're enjoying it.

Also your Pictus may develop an appetite for smaller fish when he is fully grown so bare this in mind when stocking his tank mates.

Thanks for the advice. Corys much more active today, Pictus loving having his tank mates back (he was in with the gourami and angel before the move) and is swimming around happily. Have considered changing the gravel in the 2ft to sand but won't do that yet They seem to be okay on the gravel at the moment though, they are snuffling through it and I've never had any problems with my cory in the past. Will definately consider it though

EDIT: Just thought I'd add I think the Pictus has already developed an appetite for neons. Partner begged me for some neons...bought 5 and I have one left. Somewhere between the pictus and BGK they've gone missing Going to stay away from neons.
