Pictures Of My Tanks

These are pictures of my two tanks I currently have running. Please excuse the quality and interference of light, I took them on my phone. Stocking lists are below. All suggestions are welcome :lol:

My 2ft bedroom tank

I scrubbed the awful powder blue paint off the back and attached the background. The background is double sided, the other side is a dark blue almost black but it shows the few specks of paint I didn't get too so I plan on changing sides when I scrub the little specks off. I think it will look better. Plants need to be re-considered...Corys are destroying my two grasses and the fluffy stuff looks aweful! But they love it go figure, they are always hanging out in it! BGK has a 4ft tank on layby...unfortunatly I'm paying for it now him :lol:

My 2.5ft lounge room tank

Stocking suggestions welcome on this one. Planning on getting another angel but then I'm stumped :huh:

Am currently swapping light between the two tanks until I can afford one for this tank - they don't come cheap though. Cave thing in the middle will be coming out when I find a really good piece of wood but for now I'm happy with it and my Pictus loves the cave. I even witness the angel go underneath it the other night which was odd.

Love both tanks.

First tank. Is that background picture of wood or is that wood in the background? The filter also spray what seems like pretty powerful jet. I can't comment on whether it's too powerful or not. I guess it depends on what top dweller you have. Corys do prefer sand. Looks like you have smooth gravel in yours, which is ok for them. Mine were on fine gravel before, then move to playsand. It think they like playsand better. They actually suck in the sand and expel it out of the gills like a filter. They couldn't do that on gravel. I can't say which is normal behaviour for them, but my guess would be sand.

Your tank is a bit small for angels to be honest. Again I have no personal experience with them but they need a taller (and wider) tank than yours. They are cichlids so they will be territorial. If you have more than 1 then unless they pair up they will fight. It's also very difficult to sex until they show their breeding tube. People often buy a group of 6 and let the pair up themselves. I don't know what they do with the rest that doesn't pair. You probably want to get your big tank set up first before even think about getting more angels.

I was just looking at the venturi, it looks way too powerful for the tank, but yet the water in the tank looks really still.

Definately jealous!

Yeah it's a background, will be changing it but it's definately better than what I had an I actually like it for something I bit different. I'll get sick of it soon no doubt though. Yes, the jet is crazy powerful and I don't like it but it aerates the tank at the same time which I DO like :good:

I plan on getting something else. The corys don't seem to mind the gravel, but I'm keeping an eye on their little mouths. I do want to change it to sand but at the moment it's way too big a job! Plus gravel is easy to clean right now lol. I agree with the Angels needing a larger tank but for now I think it's okay...the angel that's in there now seems to be very slow growing (in comparison to others I've owned previously). The lady I got the tank from (the 2.5ft I'm talking about) had angels in it. Too many in my opinion, but they seemed happy enough. They are now thankfully in a larger tank but it's still not tall enough. They will be happier in the larger tank I know :lol:

The water isn't completely still, but it's not as harsh as you'd imagine. The BGK has swam in front of the jet and he definately doesn't like it but he swims around everywhere else happy as larry. The corys seem to like it too. It keeps the bottom of my tank clean though :good:

I do want a different filter though, I don't like this one.
