My Fishless Cycle

nitrates steady at 80

not planning on putting any fish in tank,if it has fully cycled until next saturday, how much of a waterchange do i have to do? and do i do the waterchange the same day as iam planning to put the fish in?

Hello there Scotty, congrats on seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
Do a full clean out of your tank, either 90% or 100% water change, reclean gravel etc, fill and dechlorinate water...make sure water is temp simular to that you removed....24-26 degrees,( add hot tap water after half filling tank with cold water, that way heater wont have to bring temp up to right temp before you add fish, therefore saving you waiting time) Not sure if you should practise a filter clean too.....take sponges and filters out and rinse them in the old water you removed as tap water will kill your media. Allow tank to acclaimatize for 24 hours before adding fish.... this is what I am planning to do when my tanks are cycled.....plz forgive If I am wrong...I'm sure someone will correct if so

P.S. What colour was your nitrite test when your tank was spiking?

yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! well done another two days to fishy fishy
What is your stocking plan?

not really sure, these are what i thought of so far.

6 x Corydora
3 x Platy
2 x Swordtail (Female)
2 x Queen Aberesque plec

I am not a great stocking expert but everything there looks ok to me as does your qualifying week progress. I assume you've research the plecs with people that know them? Or at least read everything you can find on them?

~~waterdrop~~

i asked over on the plec forum about them, people said they should be ok for my size of tank
