Good luck!

Garnet's live happily in 22-28c and are peaceful (according to a friend) and if I remb, they grow a max of 3cms. How mamy you planning to get?

I'm still tinkering around the 13 hour mark. I was hoping that I'd get to 12 hours yesterday because my 12 hour mark is 10:30 - 11:00 and by that time on a week day I'm at work. So during the week it's a case of hit and miss. I could use some of the lieu time I've built up over the past two months to go in late and take a test 12hr test and see where things stand. However my time in lieu is limited to 8 late starts/half days. And obviously I need 7 of those to complete a qualifying week.

I'm thinking that perhaps I should just wait until the weekend but at the same time don't want to reach 12 hour clearing during the week (today even) and not know about it.

Good luck!

I think he maybe referring to the wrong tetra as some of the species go by several different names. I'm saying that because these garnets aka Hemigrammus pulcher grow to 2" unless of course your friend had juveniles.

Today I took a gamble and used some of the lieu time I've clocked up over the last two months to conduct a 12 hour test and the result was frustrating and also funny at the same time.

I had a trace/sliver/barely readable amount of nitrite present at the 12 hour mark. The lowest reading according to my nurafin chart is 0.1 and the nitrite reading was way below that. In fact, to find the nitrite I had to find the right light spectrum as the colour was so faint.

I thought this was going to be finished on day 36? ;)

If it doesn't cycle it in 12 hours soon I'd probably stock anyway, depending on what you're thinking of stocking?

Yeah 36 days and I was so confident too

I'm thinking of adding another sponge to the filter and replace some of the substrate balls.

I'm a bit confused about your blog, you've had loads of days of double 0's which look like they're for 24 hour tests. Why didn't you start doing 12 hour tests when you had completed doing 24 hour ones?

A few days of double 0's now presuming you've definately got double 0 after 12 hours today and you should get fish imo.

I think I just saw a new thread by you that said you had double zeros Londonguy. I think you may have discovered a flaw in your test or your test method. Since your readings are consistent and two other tests have independently confirmed that your nitrites are zero at about 12 hours, why are you waiting? Do your huge water change and get your first fish.
