Hey we're not all perfectionists, sometimes i dont remove the algea or clean the water marks of the outsde off the tank for months but my water is as clean as it can be and my fish are healthy so thats all that matters.

Well maybe you should! I don't understand purely half of the joy of having fish is to be able to see them, to see that they are spawning and their interaction between each other.
You don't have to be a perfectionist but there is a line that I personally would draw after which out comes the algae magnet, filter floss and a cloth.

I actually have gone to several independantly owned fish shops and you had to pear in through a algea free hole to see the fish. They said the fish like it that way, that not being able to see us so much kept them happier (like they were really in the wild or something).

All of thsoe shops had remarkably nice fish too.

Those pics are great...I love that orange and white one (severum I think it said) alot...very pretty and unique. I've never seen one of those, now I want too lol.

we can see them fine [ pictures make it look worse ] , I've said it to you before , if you don't like either don't look or refrain from making comments , I've been keeping fish for along time [ more than 30 years , with much success ] , I was once ANAL RETENTIVE about keeping fish , and the tanks clear and clean , I had to draw the line , and yes the fish do like algae, not being able to see out too clearly makes SPAWNING fish feel much more safe about what they have to do .......we see plenty .


clean water is far more important than clean glass anyway .

Sorry this is getting off topic , mostly to my Son , you take very nice pictures and have excellent fish keeping skills , I'm very proud , unfortunately , I get a little defensive at times ........cause trouble but you know that about me

Really nice fish and tanks! How big a tank are you using to breed Mo? I have a purple spotted gudgeon too. I have algae on my tanks too, but i scrape the fronts off once in a while. If hes breeding in the tank, its obvious you take good care of your fish and tanks. It doesnt matter what a tank looks like if its not for show!
