My First Fishless Cycle....

just to add. i think the nitrates are not off the scale as ive done a few big water changes when the pH dropped or increased to prevent the cycle from stalling. i have noted them at 40 but they are somewhere between 40 and 80 on the API test chart.

the filter will be transfered onto my 6.5x2x2 that ive been busy setting up. it currently contains -

1 x black ghost knifefish
1 x L190
1 x siamese algae eater
1 x rotkeil severum

and i am getting on saturday -

1 x oscar
1 x diadema acara

so the cycled media is only to cover the adition of the 2 fish im getting on saturday :good:

results for today are the same double zeros but a small drop in pH from 7.6 down to 7.4

Since you've got some mature media in there and you've had a pretty long stretch of 12-hour double-zeros I'd say you're looking pretty cycled there. Any time the overall elapsed time is less than 5 or 6 weeks though I'd monitor the first stocking quite carefully, watching for mini-cycling. WD
