My First Crab !

Just bought a red claw crab they said at my lfs it eats flake, is this true ?

They are fantastic escape artists, so keep a very tight lid on your tank. They do like to have an area above the water too, I think this is how the problems arise with escape.

Oh dear, now I feel terrible.

I have one in a 40 litre with 6 guppies and it has a land area and a cave, but they said he would eat flake ? Upon reading the post you gave me the link to I think I have made a mistake. :.....(

We've all done it at some point.

I always now check on here or ask about compatibilities that I'm not sure of, before I make the purchase.

I'm guessing another set up is out of the question?

well I came down this morning and there was no problem I will keep my eye on him and if it all goes down hill I will sort something out, as for another tank

 I have 4 now I am just setting up a angel fish breeding tank, my eggs are wriggling now so I hope the brine shrimp hatchery pays off

I err, also have two more tanks to set up , one is a replacement and one is for another betta if I can twist hubbies arm

I read that these Crabs don't really thrive in Freshwater? How do they go with other fish, they don't try and eat them if they go to bottom of tank do they? Hope not!

that's why its with guppies because you can have higher salt levels with them both
