Paul Cuffaro - young man aquarium enthusiast - so successful he has bought his own house by the age of 18 with the money he ears from youtube!

Anyone here have any other recommendations?

Too much misinformation on Youtube, especially aquarium related. I got curious and looked. I started with the vid from Paul Cuffaro entitled 'Worlds Largest Home Aquarium"at 4,400 gals. Using a handy dandy conversion calculator, that works out to 16,665 litres. Now have a look at this older vid in German of the home aquarium at 105,000 llitres (27,738 gals.).

The above vid was shot in 2009. Last time I checked 27,738 was more than 4,400 by just a bit......

The German site has a lot of great vids. They have a few dubbed into English which include two of my favorites dealing with Altum angels which I keep.

I am in year 19 of keeping fish and about the last place I ever look for information on fish is YouTube. In fact, I never look for information on YouTube for almost anything. It wastes too much of my time having to confirm the veracity of the vid. There is zero requirement for fact checking on YouTube and that is quite obvious.

PS- Here is another vid of a 20,000 gal, sw tank
and another sw tank 15,000 gals with a 5,000 gal filtration system as well

some of them get their money for their tanks and upkeep from youtube....they get paid by youtube if they are very popular and have lots of views

"The King of DIY" on youtube has over 1,200,000 subscribers and supports his hobby and lifestyle from youtube income.
https://www.youtube.com/user/uarujoey This guy has an indoor pond.

one of his many many many videos

I agree, that’s a crazy amount of money theses guys have.

I like “Aquarium Co-Op”, “King of DIY”, and “The Green Machine”. :)

Well Paul's a young man and we all know accuracy is questionable on the Internet.. Though he is entertaining...

As for the big aquariums they look amazing.

Paul is a YouTube favorite, but he knows nothing about fishkeeping. He once did a triple-overflow betta tank. He didn’t wash anything, and he didn’t cycle the tank. He is respected by the community, but he is not very knowledgeable. :)

Well I'll admit I was concerned with a video Paul did in which he put crabs into a pond, that a commentator advised would result in them dying because they wouldn't live in Freshwater!

I agree. Like I said, he is a respected YouTuber, but not knowledgeable. :)

I support my hobby by breeding rare B&W Hypancistrus plecos.

Over the years by attending weekend fish events where internationally know experts speaks or contacting them via email, I am able to get needed advice or help from actuallexperts. Most of them are not on YouTube to any degree. I also get great info from being in a local fish club. Almost any once of these in the country will have one or more master breeders as members as well as a store owner here or there.

Finally, i rely more on the research papers available via Google Scholar than almost any fish web site. Believe it or not, if one is not a jackass in their approach to them, Ph.D.s will respond to intelligent questions about their work.

This is also why like buttons have no place on sites that purport to offer reliable and solid information.

You tube has good information on it. You just have to discern what is correct and what is useless. My husband rebuilds old cars for a hobby and I can’t tell you how many times he’s been stuck on something and found the answer on You Tube.

Yes I saved lots of money doing DIY on my car and even learnt a a couple of shocking and important things about the car.

That's the hard part :)

Cars are different to fish, lots of people have training in mechanics and putting a bolt here instead of there is not going to kill the car, well normally. But there aren't that many people with lots of fish knowledge or training, and when you make a mistake with fish, they die.

Fish clubs (as mentioned by TwoTankAmin) are usually good sources of info but you have to be able to get to the meetings. My nearest fish club is 100kms (60miles) away and has meetings from 7pm-10pm, sometimes they go later. I am not going to drive 100km at that time of night just to talk about fish.

Catch Em All Fishing channel - he uses pressurized air chamber to launch frozen fish into the lake to help cast his fishing rod..

Wow, this guy Jacob Feder helps the 0ther youtuber Zak Catchem get a python out of the sewer he then cuts it up and eats it, however i wanted to share this because i never knew snakes could move 2 hrs after they had their heads chopped of!
