I've had 3 Orientalis for about 20 months and funny enough they are for sale

I;ve suspected in past they have had eggs but can never see inthe mouth to confirm it

Last week or so I have noticed one being the odd one out and getting chased by one other channa in particular, this left another in a concealed space staying around there. Now its hard to see this space as the tank is full of bog wood and plants just how channa like it

I thought any eggs would have gone as his throat puch looked empty but I focused on the area he had been last week or so and there are a good few babies swimming around, they're a reasonable size and swimming about

Trouble is do Orientalis care for their young, will the third one eat them and I also have a khuli loach in there and 2 Royal whiptail. would either of those two be threats do you think?

Any advice would be great

Nelly give me some tips dude!!!

Woo Hoo... What a fab start to the year!

I've no idea but I'd guess the other fish are not a problem but the other snakehead will likely see them as a tasty lunch?

Happy New Year :)

Happy new year to you too Jenn

I had suspicions when I messaged you the other day but was made up seeing them last night

I won;t check again till tonight when I stick the light on I don;t want to disturb them too much I;ll just have to let nature take its course

Good Luck with them :)

Be an interesting journal to map their progress.

Brilliant Si ! I'm still waiting for mine to pair up so totally jealous lol! You'll have to post pics when you can:)

thanks for the well wishes but I may have spoken to soon. I can;t see them now and I've spent a good while looking

I;ve managed to move a box to see the side of the tank where the pit is that the male? has been hiding and where I saw the babies last night

wheres Nelly when I need him for some advice!!! lol

there was no need for me to panic after about 15 mins of looking I saw the babies which are nearly a centimetre long under a piece of wood, they are dark with a light stripe running down them
after a short while of watching the male? came along and picked them up in his mouth and sat there loking moody
just looked again now and they;re still there huddled in the same place

thats good news simon, you have more patience than me! i got fed up of the assams, but they went to someone with a big group of them so they will probably be happier!
well hope we get some pictures up at some point, hope alls well! im just waiting for the delivery of my rays! jm curriers said this afternoon so just waiting ha
