When i woke up this morning, i noticed my betta Yangs color was completely different, he is usually a dark black with half red/white fins but he was grey and a transparant orangeish brown and his fins looked stringy and thin. I fed him and some of his color came back, but he doesnt seem himself. Is there something wrong with him?

Will need some more info if you can.

Tank size
Tank mates
Filtered yes/no
how long has tank been set up
Stats....ammonia, NitrAte, NitrIte
Temperature

ah, i see. its a filtered 3 gallon , has been set up for months, i want to say 5 , the only other thing in the tank is a snail. temperature is 77 degrees and i havent checked the tanks stats this week, but last week it was 0 ammonia and a little bit of nitrate.. i think, one of them has a tiny bit of it.

What is his poo like....is it stringy at all.

Also a pic would be great if you could get one.

ok, his poo? hm i really cant say for certian what it looks like , and my reliable cameras battery is dead, its on the charger right now, and the other cameras in the house fail to capture anything but a grey blur... he is just hanging up at the bottom of the tank all droop and pale. hes never like that and its really worrying.

Hi
When was the last water change? If he's due one, do a 50% change. From the symptoms you are describing it could some kind of bacterial infection, but very difficult to determine what exactly.

I would suggest a course of Interpet Anti-Internal Infection.

Parasites cant be ruled out, but if you haven't added anything recently its highly unlikely. Bacterial infections can be brought on by stress, a problem with the water etc etc... Have you a test kit to check the Ammonia and NitrIte?

i dont have a test kit at home, but i check the water once a week at work, cause its free. i changed about a 4th of his water last week when i did all my tanks and hes been fine since.i was thinking about doing a water change before i even posted, but it seemed strange to me bevause i did one recently. Should I still change some water? Ill bring a water sample to work today to see what the levels are.

I would go ahead with the water change and get some meds in asap :good: Also if the tank is lighted I would keep them off for a while and make sure he's in a quite area.

This is what he looks like right now... now hes got stripes... I know thats not really a good sign, but hes more active today. See how stringy he looks? I can literally see through his fins, you cant see that in the picture.

I did a 50% water change yesterday and my water tested 0 ammonia and pretty much 0 of nitrate and nitrite, i mean theres some, but i cant give it a number, barely any.

The only thing I can think of is an Internal bacterial infection? I have used Interpet Anti-Internal Bacteria with good results :good:
