Another update. 2 of the little females came to me with velvet, no doubt triggered by shipping. However, aside from just having the gold dusting, no symptoms are being displayed. I pulled substrate and plants, since I'll be doing a salt treatment with raised heat. Substrate due to having loads of assassins and it was the easiest way to move them...and my new black sand is on it's way anyways so would have to have been done soon. Plants due to salt not agreeing well with them, especially the vals.

I think I got most everyone...will update with those I missed if I can figure out who's missing.

They are looking good.  I bet the original lot are going to be happy to have something more to do with the new ones in the tank.  :)

Thanks. I think they will too, especially one i can set the tank back up with plants :)

Very nice, great update.

Hope your treatment will work for the girls and heal quickly.

Great pics as usual Giz

Thanks :) I'm hopeful for them. Due to having to run around this morning....I am just now getting them up to 8Tbsp of salt...in another hour or so they'll be at the required 10 and I'll be pulling the snails and adding the malachite green.

Sad news. Lost the CT girl due to a presumably unrelated issue. Found her dead at the bottom of the tank being eaten by another female. Not sure if they attacked her, or if she busted a gut finally. (She was extremely swollen in the belly for a couple of days, moreso than normal...then looked like a completely normal fish for a few days. Belly swelling was completely gone. Following day she was dead. So I have no idea what happened.)

Good news is, today is day 7 (I believe) of velvet treatment and all signs have been gone for 5 days. Was going to shoot for a 14 day treatment, but the girls are starting to really get irritated with each other, so I may have to start decreasing salt and malachite green levels with WCs so I can add the new substrate and replant the tank for them soon. BN Plecos in the tank have been tolerating treatment extremely well. Will continue to push treatment as long as I can. I don't want this stuff coming back.

Sorry to hear that

about you CT girl.

And a happier note to hear about velvet treatment sounding like its working. Fingers crossed.

Thanks!

Yea, the girls are obviously feeling just fine...they are getting snarky at each other

Just read this thread beginning to end, you have some gorgeous girls there! I'm jealous :D

Sorry you lost your CT. :rip:
