Well I'm new to fish keeping, had my small 100L tank that I got from my dad about a month and have really started to enjoy it!

SO... I thought, hey why not get a bigger tank LOL.

Anyway, I got it from ebay for £350. It is 60 x 20 x 28 and nearly killed me and my dad carrying it in!! The stand and lid etc were a dark wood colour so have now painted them black.

Currently sat full of water with a heater and a small internal filter in till the external arrives and some new light tubes.

Rather excited to get things set up :D

That tank looks fantastic, has a lot of potential!

Looks good, especially on the smaller (shorter) stand. It's a funny size though.

It was a custom made tank (had a sticker on it saying seabray) the guy i bought it from said it was originally in a restaurant for keeping the lobsters in LOL.

How did you know I had made the stand shorter? haha

LOL, i didn't, but it looks good on a smaller stand rather than one that makes the tank stand about 6ft tall.

Ahh I see, that was why I did it. The stand was twice as big i chopped it in half :) Would have needed a set of ladders to reach in the tank on the full size stand lol.

Is it around 125gal?

What are your plans?

I think 125 is roughly about right. Plans are to get a decent amount of plants in, not looking for anything too fancy don't really want to get into co2 at the moment so will be trying to find beginner plants I think. I have a few bits of bogwood and some rocks etc so will have to play around with the layout a bit to see what else I need to buy.

Not got a clue what I'm stocking it with, but what ever it is they will need to be friendly to my current neons and guppys!

Ok great, sounds nice. Low tech is a good option then, the planted section has a great amount of info on this. Seems a bit of a shame that it will be fullof guppies if you dont mind me saying though.. 125gal is big and you can support some great fish in it!

I have to agree. Could you not keep the guppies and neons in the 100ltr? I'd stock it with severum. Fantastic fish IMO!

Thanks for pointing that out KkAaNnEe. I must have skipped the part where the OP said he wanted plants.

Aye, I love all my severum but the only downfall is no plants.

Its a shame right? :-( seems like all the big fish like to snack on them, cant we teach them like dogs  bad fish!

Seriously though, guppies, 125Gal, come on! How many you gonna put in? 100-200?

What other fishdo you like? Im sure we can work something out ;)

Pictus cats. They're great. Corys too.
I'd still go with the severum and forget the plants if it were me though.
