i am having to move my fish tank as the carpet is being replaced in my lounge, what a nightmare!!
my idea is to place my fish and all the water in a water butt which i will heat and filter with my two tetra tec,s and tank heater. hopefully 24 hours later i will move the tank back(maybe change to sand in the process) and then shift everything back in the longe. the water butt has been used outside for a few years so hopefully there will be no toxins coming off it, all i'll have to do is wash it out first.
Anyone think this is daft??
My other option is to cut around the tank but i dont think this will go down too well with my wife
thanks,
Nath1 :good:

Seems a good idea to me, it's some thing i would do, just as long as you give it a very good clean job done!

Shame you didn't check out the sale and swap forum as I was almost giving away a perfectly good 3 footer that I have been using as a temoprary home for my fish and filter while doing a complete re-scape of my main tank.
Nobody came forward so I gave it away on Freecycle.

Guess what?......I live in Eastleigh and work in Portsmouth......pretty near Waterloovile eh?

that would have been ideal
never mind, i will have to stick with the water butt in the dining room plan. now to break it to my wife :-(

This is similar to what I do when I decide to rearrange the fishroom. 90 gallons of fish in a 20 gallon tank for a few hours, with 90 gallons worth of filtration. Move the rack & tanks, replace the fish.
