super reds are 35 000 dollars up here
and then golds are worth even more
wow, thats majorly overpriced. A group order went down in BC, we ordered about 15 asian aros from panda aquatics, super reds and chili reds were about $1200 US, so the markup in Alberta is crazy.

The tigrinus is still in shotgate because of that price. I can get young tigrinus for under £100. Shotgate are living in cloud cuckoo land, nice fish but way over priced. A good shop on the way down hill , its a shame, If you are in the area check out Fishy friends in Basildon town centre. Only a year own and great selection

Well, considering how I raise, breed and show horses, and a good showhorse is anywhere from 10 to 50 thousand US dollars, this ammount does not seem like much. (I don't own any of these horses, but the 'cheaper' horses are still a lot) But I wouldn't ever buy a fish for that much. You can enjoy and keep beautiful fish for a lot less.

i would never pay that much for a fish. even if you are an expert fish keeper it only takes one little thing to go wrong and you are out a very expensive fish

..geez...and I thought $39 for a red line torpedo was expensive.......SH

The've spent millions of dollars trying to get live celocanths back from madagascar.

never gotten one though

yeh stupidly overpriced, i'ved had to pass them off recently at about £120, and Trimar have them at £155 although there tiny.

the Shotgates visit was my x-mas pressie so might have to make a trip down there again soon and try to get to a few different shops...nick my bro's GPS

We have a couple of super red arowana's at work that's $2500 canadian...We had a power outtage a couple of days ago and the managers were nervous especially for this 2 fish....I hope they have insurance cause that blackout was for 4 hours and I haven't been to work eversince.... Anywas If I was filthy rich, I would buy all this expensive fish....It's like being a wealthy guy buying expensive and super fast cars that isn't even practical for daily driving..... :p

The only way I could ever pay half of the prices mentioned here, is if I had a 5000G tank, perfectly cycled, perfect parameters, perfect everything, and my entire life was going to be set around that fish. Like, I lived and breathed to have just that fish, and nothing else. Then, and only then, would I pay a quarter of a million :)

The most expensive fish I have ever seen was a 3ft red tailed catfish for about $500. If I had the right tank, and the money, I would have bought it. Red tailed cats are my #1 fav fish of all time. And for a fish of that good health and size, I think 500 is a steal.

Celocanths are interesting. I don't think they'll ever be kept in aquaria though because they must have extreme water pressure in order to live - which is why none have been brought back from Madagascar yet. The fish always die when they try to bring it up to the surface. If, somehow, they did get one here, it would be worth millions - possibly quite literally.

lol, maybe if i was a millionair n i had my entire wall turned into a living lake lol, maybe i mite pay that much, just maybe

one day i shall own an indoor pool. and in that pool shall live a giant mbu pufferfish. and i shall call him "Mr. Puffy" and worry about my fingers for the next 15 years :p

i think it'd be more fun to own $2,000 worth of small fish. ooooooo.... picture 2k of neon tetras  (i only love neons in vast quantities.)

if you have to have any tetra in large quatities make it penguin tetra, they shoal so well!

walk into a fish shop when it's quiet and watch how the different species shoal, neons make an ok shoal but penguins shoal very tightly.
