My monte carlo carpet plant is growing nicely and still looks really healthy, but after 3 weeks it's not spreading as I thought it would. Instead it's just growing vertically.

My first thoughts are because of my sand substrate, I'd imagine sand packs tighter than gravel.

If that's the reason why, can i just simply trim the monte carlo and replant it?

What sort of set up do you have it in? Higher lighting will keep it more compact but you might just need to keep trimming and replanting the cuttings to get it to fill in and spread vertically.

Your light might not be enough to keep it short and carpeting
