Should we keep more than one male molly in the tank-we've heard there can be problems with aggression

Depends on the size of the tank. Two males in a 20 gallon tank = bad idea. Two males in a 55 gallon tank = could work quite well if they have plants and stuff to hide amongst. Regardless, make sure the females outnumber the males.
