Their several molly species

The common shop types
The sailfin, Poecilia veliferia (This is the large molly seen)
Another sailfin Poecilia latipinna (This is usualy seen as the black or silver molly, also common to show the lyratail gene)
Short fin molly Poecilia sphenops (same size as the latipinna but male do not have large dorsal fins)

Other types
Amazon molly, Poecilia formosa
Spike tail Sailfin molly, Poecilia petenensis
Poecilia caucana
Poecilia vivipara
Poecilia maylandi
Poecilia mexicina
Poecilia chica

They cross breed then to take traits from one type to another type but generally they are not crossed.

Breeding spot? guess you mean gravid spot, as a rule mollies don't produce gravid spots.

yes that referred to as a "Gravid Spot" and molly's as a rule dont show these, anthough u can some times still see the fry eye's in that area when their close to giving birth.
