Well I own one at the moment because we couldn't decide out of the 3 in the tank which sex.

So here is a picture I took, although it's not a very good one. They were in with some stunning Blue Red Tail Tetra as well.

I got the one with the black on him? We saw those two square off to each other which was brilliant.

Make sure you keep your stats spot on and nitrates down.

Good luck.

what sort of pH have you got? These sensitive little things wont tolerate hard water very well.

Thank you and I will be keeping extra eye on this boy. He cost me enough.

I live in soft water area in Scotland with ph of 6.6

Stats are usually 0,0,5

Better photograph coming

Ok I've just gone to add some tank water into his bag, but noticed on the tank some white circles of organism on the tank wall and heater.........no idea what this is?

All over the driftwood that is in the tank too........that came from previous owner. Could it be to do with that.

Not letting him out of the bag until I know what it is.

certainly the first pic - looks like a pets at home tank ? - they look like electric blue rams, and i have seen them in p@h before. might just be the photos though, niether are of the best quality, so i could be wrong.

i had two of these and lost both of them, be very careful as i know form experience they are VERY sensitive.

also its almost impossible to sex them, as you would have seen int he shop they are all identical in look and size

id guess at a female but wait till its settled and add another photo. the elec blues are harder to sex but going by the dorsal fin and the rounder belly id guess at female for now.

these guys are very sensitive and dont live for too long either. these poor rams have been line bred and line bred so much the gene pool is very weak.

the normal german blue ram is one of my favourate fish but good quality ones are few and far between.

As a noob I can't differ. But there were only 3 of them. Two looked the same colours and size wise. And the other smaller and no black on her.

I'll be letting her/him into the tank soon and will get a better photo. Stunning colour, but not the colour they were in the sales tank as per 1st photo.

I had two of these and they are impossible to sex.
They ended up as being two males and fought like crazy so I split them up and rehomed one.
I live in a hard water area with a ph of 7.8 they seem ok in my tank and in my friends who took one.
Had them around 7 months now with no problems apart from the initial aggression between them.
