Methylene Blue

Sera Toxivec, according to that website "The quick effect of sera toxivec® removes ammonium and nitrite in no time. Therefore it prevents the conversion into nitrate". This is not good as Inchworm said as your filter bacteria then have nothing to feed on, die and you're back to square one.

Prime merely converts/detoxifies them...

i have a 1ml pippette just use that and i think i may get some of this stuff tomorrow

That should do the job. I like to be ultra accurate though...

well that seachem prime looks good as you have said breaks it down so that then it becomes nitrate that my plants and bacteria can then eat which sounds like more than a cure like jimbo said a ******* lifesaver cheers all get me some of that tomorrow

Not everywhere stocks it though as it's American. I'd phone up to save a wasted trip. Or go the ebay route for a cheap deal. Funnily enough, a new bottle arrived in the post this morning. My 500ml bottle was getting a little low and hard to dose as I couldn't reach the stuff at the bottom of the bottle. So I bought a 100ml bottle so I can top it up and get at the liquid with the syringe. B-)

well i just tested my nitrite its at 0.4 so i think al be getting some now in ebay how long does it usually take

minimum of 10% a week more if i have time i have just bought a 250ml off ebay so should be here by the end of the week

Or maybe it's worth phoning around local shops to see if they've got some. It sounds like you need it pretty sharp-ish. Otherwise, keep doing your water changes!

Good good. Speedily done...

Keep doing those water changes!

How old's the tank with the spike again by the way? Also, what filter are you running?

i will be doing water changes every other day then when that stuff comes ill dose it so it can remove the nitrite then hopefully in a week all will be done with

the tank itself if roughly around 2 months old and the spike has gone on for a week and i have a fluval 4+ and a fluval 205 external the fluval 4 has some floss in it from my juwel tank which has been running for about 8 months

Just stocked too quickly? When did you get the fish?

month or so ago
think it was a case of bangin too many in at one time and the boiload was too much for the bacteria but water changes and that seachem will do the job also theres some mature media in my fluval 4 so that will be matured soon enough
