hello i was reading the section about new tank set up / beginers section although ive kept tropical fish for ten years ive recently got a new tank my friend got my old tank , my tank has been up and running 11 days now and the ammonia reading is 1.0 , i can go to my friend and get either gravel or can i exchange 1 of my blue sponge or black sponge filter with him its the juwel type filter/sponges should i put the gravel in a stocking and hang it in the tank or is it best to swap 1 of my new sponges with my friends older sponge and just put his sponge into my filter, im doing a 10/15 % water change daily at the min

Best thing you can do to speed up the cycle is swap some sponge media with your friend. It's the main place beneficial bacteria will be kept .

thanks should 1 swap 1 sponge or try and swap 2 sponges say 1 black and 1 blue
