Awesome place Nelly, I love all the greenery, it just makes things feel so much more pleasing don't you think...it's nice to get away from all that concrete...

I would love to hear a bit more about the culture too, I can imagine the local people are very welcoming and "make" the place more than any other thing?

I've always wanted to travel to South America...one day I will once my boy is a little older and can come hiking with me...not sure if I'd go hiking in Columbia though unless I had a guide who could make sure I don't trespass where not wanted :)

Medellin (MED A JEAN) is the second largest, and most progressive city in Colombia. International travelers, and others say: "Medellin is one of the most beautiful cities in South America". The home of orchids, parks and tropical birds, Medellin lies cradled in the Aburra Valley, bisected by the Medellin River which runs North and South. Nightlife, called "Rumba", takes place in many locations, beginning in earnest on Thursday night, and running "hot and heavy" through Saturday night. With an International (MDE), and an Inter Colombia (EOH), in-town airport, Tourist Agencies report that Medellin serves as a popular central air hub for tourists. Buses, Taxis or the world class METRO rail are all safe, low cost, modes of convenient transportation. You'll find hundreds of good lodging, and restaurant options to choose from. At 1,600 meters, the annual temperature is perfect. No need for A/C!

Medellin is the Capital City, of the State of Antioquia. The State includes more than 125 villages, towns and cities which are served by private bus companies. Beautiful ever green forests, parks, lakes, rivers, recreational, tourist, historic, cultural facilities and attractions are located on good roads which run throughout Antioquia-the weekend playground for many who live in Medellin.

This says everything

good and bad

Looks amazing, definitely somewhere to put on my exploring 'to do list' :good:

Have to say though, I aren't a lizard fan so I would probably scream like a girl everytime I came across one

Do they have big spiders over there? :look:

If you want :good: , but yes it is hard for them to break away from the pablo Escobar stigma....

Did you watch the recent documentary about pablo and his son?

I can understand the stigma as it seems from the book he was hugely influential within the country and worldwide although I knew nothing about him till I raead the book on my sun lounger all week. the book paints the picture of a col country which your pics show as well
