thank you in advance, am off to work so will check back later :)

Female. Male's will have longer and pointed fins.

another quick question while i may, this fish is one heck of a bully, would adding more females (or a male?) combat this (she is in with another female molly and female platys amongst other community fish) she actually corners some fish and attacks them, its horrific, hence why at the moment she is in a floating trap.

what a shame just checked on fishy and the bump is gone. so if she was pregnant shes ate them all :-(

what a shame :(

i said she was female from the begining, and from the picture only her front end of her belly had dropped which suggests over feeding, when pregnant the back end drops too

Yeah, probably just a good intestinal clear out, she didn't really look pregnant to me. Pregnant, you'll know it, she'll look like she has swallowed a golf ball...

Adding more females might help, but a male might make things worse because it's another fish pursuing the females.

shes probably agressive because she is buy herself and there is safety in numbers, also there is no plant cover in the tank, its a bit bare, and no where for her to hide from predetors. I would add some gravel and a few plastic plants (if you dont like real ones,) fish like places to hide. di

she may just be showing the others that she is boss, it should quite down after a day or two, if not then we'll have to think of what to do next, adding more might make it worse

the main tank has a heavily planted area and lots of bogwood/caves etc for cover, also sand as the substrate, its a 180 L tank with another molly and platys/community fish, in the pic shes just in a floating box while i found out if she was m/f and what to do!
i wondered if perhaps she was just very full and needed a good clear out, at least i know what she is now.

ive had her in that tank for a week, it was by day two or three that she started the attacks. she first started on the other molly, who i removed for 12 hours as she was pregnant, but she ended up aborting the babies, i had just a handful survive which arent doing to well. that molly is back in the tank now and her and a female platy get picked on the worst. this molly even took on an angel fish yesterday!

but so far so good, since being released back into the tank this morning, ive not seen any aggression

thank you all for your help :) lets see how it goes eh?

well they've just been fed and she has ballooned up again so it must be the food?
