Hi there,

I have a fish tank of size 36*15*15 inches.

Need an expert advise on :
* How many guppies(numbers) can thrive in this tank.
* I am interested in keeping male guppies only.
Would they be happy with no females around.

Thanks.

Is it a 35 gallon tank? AKA 132L?  You could have quite a lot of fish. And I wouldn't just do male guppies, although pretty, I find it more enjoyable to have multiple species. The males will do fine on their own, they don't need females.

Edit: If you decide to get other fish besides the guppies that would determine how many you could have. But you could have 15-20, that is as high as I would go.

why do you only want males
I'd imagine it's because they are nicer to look at than the females

yes, you are right. I like male guppies because of their pretty tails.

So, what is the right number of male guppies(no other fish) that I can keep in a 36"-15"-15" inches tank.

15, 20 or 25 ?

Also with even one female and only guppies in a tank, after one birth the tank is over populated.

I would only do 15-20, some males can actually get quite large, close to 2 inches (which in guppy male standards thats big)

Thank you

I conclude to keep 20 male guppies in my tank.

Awesome! Post some photos, I love guppies! XD I am starting to breed my own strain. :)

Sorry dear, I missed your post as I was a bit busy and couldn't login for sometime.

I am very choosy about my fish. I will buy it only if it is rare and unique.

Currently, I am waiting for some new stock to arrive.

I'll definitely post the pics once I find something interesting.

I am pretty choosy too so no worries. I found a super gorgeous platy yesterday who is now living in a 10 observation tank. He is just a mickey mouse platy but he has some really nice yellow outlined fins and orange on his fins on his belly.  He is a really nice solid orange, not too red and not too yellow. Just right. :) Hopefully he is healthy I would love to breed him someday.

If you only have one female and loads of male guppies in a tank I think you'll find it won't be long before the female is worried to death....

I know, I was just stating that a single birth from a female can lead to over population.
