My ph in one of my tanks is 5.0!!!!!!
no fish affected as of yet visibilly anyway
ive added bog wood about a week ago that is all

ph of tap water is 7.2

why has it dropped so low and what will i do to raise it, remove bogwood i think but will it raise it??

What are your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate.
What test kit are you using.
How many fish and which type.
Remove the bog wood.
How much bogwood do you have in the tank.

water stats are fine
api test kit
4rainbow fish
4 sparkling gouramis
1 thick lipped gourami
1 platy
2 corys

I would remove the bogwood for now.
Do you use C02

no dont use co2
why has it reduced so much and what can i do to get it back up again or will it raise wnough with removing bogwood

yes definately 5.0 as used nutrafin test kit as it was shown lowest on api and nutrafin goes down to 5.0
why has it dropped 2.2 by adding bogwood thats a hell of a jump!

If the bogwood is really a big piece ti could fetch it down.

Is it possible that there's a test kit mistake? That is very acidic water, your fish would be stressed by now I think. Maybe you should try using a different test kit. Also try adding a pile of sodium bicarbonate to a sample of water - test that and see if it's reading neutral or alkaline.

removed bogwood ph still reading the same what is it that i can add to bring ph up

1)bicarbonate of soda
2)baking soda

which one is it again???

Didn't notice you was the same person with the tank problems with all the fish dying.
In this thead you said no problems with fish yet.
That isnt true starting to make sense now why you have lost so many fish.

Need to find out why your tank is a ph of 5 but the tap ph is the 7 region,
Might be best of posting in another secton of the forum as some good members know alot about science of fish keeping.

sorry wilder this is a different tank again
ph of tap is 7.2
added bog wood about a week ago ph went down to 5.0

removed bogwood ph now 5.4 what can i add to bring it up???

I would slowly do some water changes to see if that brings it back up, now that you have removed the bogwood.
There something that altering your ph in your tank.
Didn't realise you had more than one tank.
