I have recently acquired 2 German blue rams. I have had them for 2 weeks and they are beautiful. They seem happy. They explore every inch of there 20 gallon tank. They eat well and don't fight at all. I want them to be as happy as possible so I was considering lowering the pH. Right now the tank is slightly basic with a pH of 8. I know captive bred rams may have adapted to these parameters so I'm skeptical about adjusting it. Should I? And if I do is java moss the way to go or peat? Maybe by chemical means? First hand advice? Will it give them longevity if I do or will the change kill them. Do I need to use buffers to slow down dramatic changes? Alot of questions I know. Any insight will help.
