no 1 male in a divided 3g of the tank and then 5 females on the other side

If i were to keep a group of girls i'd keep 4 at the very minimum and i would only keep that many if i had a 40L tank or bigger, i wouldnt have 2 males and 5 females, how about a 45L section for 4-6 Females, and a 15L section for 1 boy? Or just have it all girls, or all boys divided of course.

3 would be fine you could have 4 sections at the most
