So to service my breeding tanks, i had a load of pumps (all on sale in a few mins!) connected into a pipe, then a manifold splitting them off.
I got a pond pump which is now hooked up and have the pipe running the length of all my tanks, with lines coming off where i need it. This works SOO much better and there is no more mess of airline tubes!
However! My ideas go bigger! When i do daily water changes on all the tanks, its a real pain in the #16#####! I fill 25L buckets, put in a PH buffer, my dech. and let it sit for 20 mins. I then put small buckets on top of each aquarium, fill from the 25L, then use airline tubes to drain in the new water to save washing away/stressing the fry.
BUT, now what i have in mind is this: Do the same thing with 25L buckets, but then hook up my pump which has a variable speed to the connection shown in the photo. THere is a block for the air pump so the water wont go down there, and the pipe is slopped so that it does not sit in the pipe.
My question is: Can i use the same airline pumps and drain the new, dechlorinated water through the sponge filters? Or will this do something to the bacteria?! If this is not an option, i will drill in more holes and have 'water lines' and 'air lines'.
