After a recent move (of about 2000km) and having to sell ALL my fish :-( I have restarted again, anyways I'm situated on a esturine river, in an area that only has light/small tidal flow so its probably not as salty at furthur down (correct me if I'm wrong), the local caught fish (trout mostly), are considard safe to eat, large local bird population (ducks, gulls, swans, pelicans) so I was wondering there's a HUGE amount of driftwood literally accross the road from me, So I'm after opinions as to wether it would be safe. My guess is probably but after wider opinions

Andrew

PS for the very few that might know the area, its about 30km up the Derwent river from Hobart (Tasmania, Australia)

I've used natural driftwood before with good results; but the preparation for getting it into the aquarium is kinda lengthy. One, you must boil the wood so that all the bad germs and possible hijackers die. Then you must let it soak in water for a long time, it took mine about a month, and chage the bucket water continuously. This is so the tanins in the wood are released completely, so that the water isnt painted.

Apart from that process it's cool having natural wood! :D
