Have you thought about getting clown loaches if you have a big enough tank and the right tank mates, they will get rid of your snails no problem, but that also means non nuisance snails too... Plus they are one of the best fish in my opinion

Yeah depends on size of tank. Clown loaches are social and belong in groups and they get pretty big so would need a large tank for a group of them id say at least a 75 gallon if not more. They do a good job eating snails though and if one has shrimp theyre gonners too.

Ewwww...i did this to slugs as a kid also, now i just use beer to keep em out of my garden

one for the slugs and one for me.

Lol, no I never did, my mom always used the egg shells to keep them out.
