i hae got a 30w tube for my rekord 120 (not the jewel light tube!) i thinks its an arcadia. however my tank only has one light tube in it. but that is only 1 watt per gallon. are there any tubes out there that will still fit but are more than 30wpg, so i can enhance plant growth. something around the 45w mark is good.
 
no :angry: is there no one that does a 40w or a 45w that will fit a rekord 120
 
The straight tubes are only a single power per foot of tube. In a T-12 it is about 10W/ft, in a T-8 it is about 8W/ft. There are high output tubes but as stated they must be matched properly to the ballast. The only real option for most of us is to add another fluorescent tube using a kit or to put a light strip beside the one you already have.
 
how would i go aboutt doing that. because i mite just squeeze one in but i haven a clue how to do it!
 
when you buy the ballast & tube, it comes with brackets supplied, simply screw these on and clip the tube in place, here is how i have done mine:
