Lfs Wouldnt Sell Me Pond Dechlorinator

Another possible consideration Emma......... With your 2 tanks, your water changes will ony use small amounts of dechlorinator. Presumably this has a "sell by date" (mine does), so, if you bought (say) a 1 litre bottle of the pond stuff, you might find it out of date, and still have a load of it left; which (in theory) you would throw away.

I only have the one tank running at the moment. The small 32L is just for treating meds or breeding. I have two filters (internal and external) so i will use a sponge from one of these in the hospital one if needs be. Therefore, less dechlorinator is being used.

Im quite generous with dechlorinator anyway so will have to be more stingy with it. Always worried i dont add enough. Usualy two squirts per bucket of water.

Its pretty much the same stuff they sell in the little bottles. Just need to measure it to the correct dosage. Also check the % concentration as well. it me be more concentrated than the bottles, so a calculator may come in handy to figure that out, unless your math person. Its odd that they wouldn't sell it to ya, but it can be bought at just about any garden center.

As seeing you only have about 2 tanks, i personally would just buy the regular dechlor. I have 8 tanks running and I use dechlor a lot. I still buy the regular dechlor for tanks, however in much bigger containers. As it is avaliable here near me.

Havent i already answered this? Ive only the one tank running, the breeding one is not running.

i use reg cloranater for small tanks and prime for my big tanks holy moly it stinks but works good

Me! Been using it for about 3 years. It works out so much cheaper I can't believe everyone doesn't do it! It's the hobbies best kept secret! Why spend loads on aquarium dechlor when you can buy pond stuff! The reason you LFS didn't sell you it is because they wanted more money! I've used big bottles of pond dechlor for 3 years with no bad effects whatsoever. In fact, LFS use pond declor for their systems.

Buy dechlorinator online. I get the 2 liter bottle of Prime for a little over $30.

just use prime. smells like a stinkbomb, but its pretty concentrated.

Prime is good, smells like rotten eggs, but it's good and it doesn't stink up your tank any.

But yeah, just find some other LFS or LPS that sells the pond dechlor if you really want some. I'm sure other places will be more than willing to sell you the stuff without any hassle.
