Hello again peeps and welcome to helping dan time, lol. I do appologise as ive already asked a ton of questions so am very greatful. Ive had my new tank running since last monday and im trying to get the temp up to 26dc. Its up to 23.7-9 at the mo but has sat there since yesturday morning. Its 310ltrs and have got the substrate in. Any clues as to if this is normal? Im using an electronic thermometer. Ive turned the heaters up to 30 from 26 tonight and put the lights on justbto give it a boost. Many many thanks

Electric thermometer is ringing alarm bells, keep it simple and get an alcohol - spirit thermometer, more accurate generally and you can't go wrong, also 310L is a lot of water, dependent on how many heats you have it may take a while, what with it being cold at this time of year too.

+1 Digital thermometors, while looking the biz, are actualy not that accurate. Get an old fashioned spirit thermometer, much better & dont need batteries.

Im using two interpet delta therma 200w and using aquamanta 400 filter with spray bar as they both come as part of the kit. I have to be honest i did get the thermometer fom ebay very cheap. Will go back to using the good old fasion one then. I will lean my lesson one day.

Any make or model i should look for?

A tank that size should use a 300 w heater. Barring that extra current will help spread the heat out and warm it faster.

Im using two 200w heaters. We bought the tank, stand, heaters and filter from maiden head. Ive got both heaters sat at a 45 d angle as stated on the box.

Did you mean use two 300w heaters? Or is two 200w heaters sufice?

Sorry, I missed that you are running two of them, that's perfect. Odd its taking so long.

ok, my first question.
are you using the temp setting on the heater? ie setting 26c? if so, turn them right up. if they over heat the tank, turn them down, till you reach the required temp.
if you already have them turned up. buy a new heater./heaters.

Could be your heater setting is out by a couple of degrees C, I found that out with mine. Just stuck it up by a couple of notches and the tank temperature should be where it is.

not only are they out, they bare no relation to the heater output.
its a"rough" (very) guide. not a thermostatically controlled system.

That's quite a long time to be taking to heat up - just turn them right up like advised & adjust accordingly... my recent setup only took less then 2 days to get to required constant temp.

I found the best way to get the water to the correct temp is adding warm water to it... i have a large spirit thermometer (used in homebrew wine kits) and i run the mixer tap till its slightly warmer then i need it so when i add it to the tank, the heaters dont have too much work to do...i have a 60 gal tank about the same size as yours..
