Hi I'm looking to get some blue LED lighting for my tank (80cm long x 35cm wide x 45cm high. Volume 125 litres) and i was wondering if anyone could advise me on how many i should get? it's between 1 12" or 2 12". Some of my fish seem to like mid lighting so I thought it would give me a good option to provide dimmed lights so I can make it go from dark to light over time rather than instantly.

These are the ones I'm looking to get:

Twin:

or

Single

If anyone knows of better lights please let me know!

Thanks

You can't dim LED lighting. It is either on or off. I have a 4 lamp setup of wide angle lamps on a 6 foot long tank and it gives a nice glow to the water when the tank and room lights are out. The rest of the time it is not noticeable and I just leave them on all the time.

What i mean by dimming is reducing the voltage (the ones i'm looking at have that feature) so it dims the lights. I didn't know how bright the LED lights are but thanks for all the info as Its good to get some first hand knowledge! :)

I got mine from the same seller as you are looking at. Arrived quickly and work fine.
How many strips you need depends on the effect you are looking for i guess.
If you want the tank brighter at one end fading off toward the other end get the single strip.
however if you want to light the entire length of the tank i would definatly get the double strip.
The seller reckoned that 2 strip was ok up to 60" but i bought a triple set for my 48" tank and am glad i did.
I have the whole length of the tank lit up and found the variable voltage to be very useful to get the lighting level i was looking for.
Mine come on just before the main tank lights go off and then stay on for about an hour , i think the tank looks great and you get to see some of the more shy fish.

The ones iv got dont dim, but there just about right they dont sit facing into the water they face towards the back i can get a pic up if you want?

Yes they stick on with suction cups and there very strond but you also get some nuts and bolts to fix them to a hood etc

but i also like the idea of dimming them

You can dim LED lighting by using pulse width modulation - effectively sending pulses of voltage so fast your eyes do not see the changes. Just adjusting the voltage drastically reduces the life span of the LED.
