thank you talltree for that importaht tidbit.

It is important, or else the last post won't actually count.  Only posts that actually say something are eligible to be the winning post.

For example,

I took my son to see Independence Hall yesterday.  We had a lot of fun, and as he was slurping down his root beer float, he told me that it was the best day trip of his life.

Today I bought an Amazon sword plant and 3 gold scales tiger barbs :D

I put in an order yesterday for some saltwater stuff

i came on here and BOOM! the thread was closed!! :O

It's when you hang out at the mall, and if you see anyone you know, you shout "Hay!" Until they turn around.

I be faced with a difficult moral decision. My 6 gallon aquarium, fully cycled, no ammonia troubles or anything, but for whatever reason, my native shrimp colonies never seem to last. I last topped up the population around 3 months ago and there's only 3 riffles and about 9-10 other shrimp now. :(
I wanna do some foreign shrimp like crystal reds or cherries, but I feel I'd be let my remaining natives down. It is an entirely australian tank bar plants ATM and I don't want the foreigners outshining the natives.
Thoughts?

Edit: another thing I've considered is to add one or two Endlers guppies so the shrimp could still have their tank, but I have something a little more.... Well more, to look at.

An interesting dilemma... Maybe your best choice is to create a 'pros' and 'cons' list for each option you have available.

;)

Hmm, yes. I s'pose so. I'll do it here so everyone can give me hell for it. :p

TallTree's Pro and Con List of Introducing Foreign Shrimp into His Native Shrimp Tank
Pros:
~ Cheaper to buy foreigners
~ Foreign ones are a bit more colorful
~ They will be easier to keep ( I'm guessing )
~ I can get them locally rather than mucking about with shipping tropical shrimp in winter.

Cons:
~ I think my native shrimp will be mad at me
~ The whole purpose of the tank was to be a native tank

The list doesn't lie... I want to get foreigners... But I also don't want to get foreigners. :shout:
