I will be adding a rather large Severum to my tank (6"-8") this weekend.

Currently I have one Pictus Catfish and 3 Tinfoil Barbs in there. I also have a Gourami that may be moved to my other tank if there are any issues between him and the Severum.

I am thinking it would be best to add whatever other fish I decide on BEFORE adding the Severum. I am thinking of a school of around 6 fish. Or maybe a pair/trio of some sort. They would need to be larger as not to fit into the Severums mouth. They probably should not be nippy fish. Any suggestions ? Thank you :)

Clowns wont give the shoaling affect, its probably a little small for a decent shoal of silver dolla, maybe a few more tinfoils? (Although they themselfs get pritty big).

I don't think my Pictus Cat will appreciate the Clowns. If I add any other bottom dwellers it will likely be 2 more cats.

I don't want to add any more Tinfoils. They will need to be rehomed once they get too big as it is. Also, they spend the entire day chasing their reflections...LOL. Changed the backing twice and they can still see themselves.

Rainbowfish. Glossolepis incisus, the males go red and the females a bronze colour. They will reach 4-5 inches long and a couple of inches high. They should hang out together.
Other rainbowfish include Melanotaenia lacustris, herbertaxelrodi, inornata (checkered), rubrostriata. There's heaps to choose from.
Congo or African Longfin tetras, Filament barbs

Geo7x,
Yes I am aware of the Tinfoils habits. Mine never bothered the Danios and they could fit in their mouths. They ARE ravenous eaters so I have to throw somthing in to distract them while I feed the others. I also have to use a long tube to drop pellets to my shy catfish.

ColinT,
Rainbow fish...good idea ! Will go look them up. Thanks.
