generally who is the lone wolf, on schooling fish???

I don't consider linebreeding to be the problem. I mean, yeah, bad choices can be selected for, but in general, its a myth that linebred fish are unhealthy.
Long fins are handicapped, but robust.
It's how they are reared and moved to market that I think creates most of the problems.

so, wondering is the shoaling instinct is over ridden by learned behavior???

most of my silver dollar population had been split up for a few years... I now have a tank, where several adults, and some new juvinals, have been combined, several reunited... they are not fighting, but, are spread out over the whole tank, more than they are in a group... the "grumpy old man" prefers to have his personal space, but seems to allow the little dollars access within that space, and is less tolerant of the adults that close, this is a blended shoal of long ago purchased "common" dollars, and one tiger, and a few juvenal tigers .. I'm assuming the large "common", with more body color , and more fin color is male, but could also be a sub species... but other than that, I'm not good at sexing them, but also, I'm sure that also effects the group dynamic, even if sexual difference are not apparent to me... as it does on groups with easy to see sexual differences
