Hello....

So..our neighbours often paint and spraying their stuff and air is fills with the chemicals smell and now I have to wear carbon mask.

Talked to the neighbor and it doesn’t go well....

My fish tank is near the front door that we opens during the daytime, will the chemical in the air harms fishes and can lid prevent the chemical from getting in the water?

Paint fumes will affect the fish, however a coverglass or hood on the tank will stop most of the fumes getting into the water.

Air pumps can pump paint fumes into the aquarium so if you have an air pump in the room, maybe move it to a cleaner place and you should be fine.

If your place is zoned residential (not industrial), then you might be able to get the council to shut down the neighbours spray painting because that should not be done in a residential zone where people live.

They do nothing! all they do is corrupting.

What about writing to the federal and state government and asking them to help. Inform them the council is not acting to stop people from running businesses from their homes and the noise and fumes are adversely affecting your health and the health of those around you.

If the state or federal government gets involved, they might force the council to do something.

You could talk to other people in your neighbourhood and see if the fumes are affecting them too. If a number of people from different properties approach the council, they will be more likely to do something. If they don't you contact the local newspaper and let them do a story on illegal businesses in suburban neighbourhoods and a council that won't do its job.

Other options include taking legal action but a lawyer will cost you money and want you to contact the council and jump through hoops before they take on the case. Or if you know some shady characters (criminals), you could ask or pay them to go and deal with the neighbours. However, that is usually considered illegal and you might end up in court if it goes badly. If you do go down this route, do not use your real name and don't use your phone or email to communicate with the bad guys, that just leaves an evidence trail.

Is there anyway to protect your fish tank though? like not messing with the neighbor at all cause, I asked him to make me a carbon steel tank stand the other day and he make it for free

Speaking of tank stand, what are the best metal for tank stand?

Having a coverglass and hood over an aquarium is the best way to stop fumes getting into the water.

Do not use an air pump if there are fumes because the air pump will pump the fumes into the water.

Have some Activated carbon in the filter to remove any fumes that get into the water. replace the carbon every week or two.

--------------------
The best metal for fish tank stands is stainless steel with about 8% nickel. Stainless steel comes in different grades that contain various amounts of nickel. If there is only a small amount of nickel, the stainless steel can rust. Stainless steel with 6-10% nickel (8% is apparently optimum) should not rust and the stands will last forever.

Steel stands are fine but need to be primed and painted with several coats of paint otherwise they rust.

Carbon steel is simply steel with some form of carbon added to it. Coal is regularly crushed into a powder and smelted with the steel to produce carbon steel, which is stronger than normal/ mild steel.

Carbon steel should be primed and painted too.
