hello evry1, i have a 55l 12g(uk) running for 5months containing
3 corydoras,
3 zebra danios,
1 female krib,

I know my numbers of fish aren't ideal but i have more corys and danios are in the pipeline.
I have spotted some sparkling gouramis in a lfs and woundered if they would go with my female kribensis.
She (the krib) is currently only 3 1/2cm big she loves to chase her reflection, and is in no way shy :) . There are plenty of plants without resricting swimming space in the tank, also there are more caves than the krib or corys can shelter in :D . I have reaserched sparkling gouramis on the internet and in books and i cant find anything saying that they(krib+gouramis) are not compatible. I think my tank looks rather empty and i like the gouramis because they are peaceful, beautiful, cheap, stay small and inhabit the middle and top layers of the tank. I was going to buy 3 and if there are fights i could move some or all of the sparklers to my 27(uk)g. i was woudering if any1 had any opinions on keeping them together or not. Relplies asap would be aprieciated because i am goin to my local lfs hopefully 2morrow. thanks regards

:D

I found this on mod queue in the fish index. Moved.

Most Gourami's should be OK with Kribs if the tank is big enough. Kribs will pretty much chase anything but Gourami's tend to be able to look after themselves. Also Kribs spend most of their time at the bottom of the tank whilst Gouramis are more active in the middle and upper areas.

A pair of Kribs (male and female) would be a different matter with far more aggression, especially when spawning/protecting fry) but your single female should be OK.

EDIT: Sorry just noticed your tank size, 12 gal is too small really, you would be better adding 2 or 3 more danios and leaving it at that. :/

hi , thanks for your reply, i'll stick with my krib and maybe get a few more danios thanks again

I have kept sparkling gouramis with a breeding pair of kribs and they came to no harm.

In my experience, kribs seem to dislike pretty much any kind of gourami, but the sparklers were fine.

Just not sure about the tank size though...

No problem, why not get the sparkling Gourami's for your 27 gal if you like them? :)
