These are my cats exploring the house. They are not allowed to run around too ofter because they think my mom's couch is a scratching post.

This is Simba doing some safe hunting.

This is Sky hiding in back of the curtains

This is Sky again when she found the catnip plant

This is Sky and Simba looking at the birds outside. Sky wasn't amused so she only stayed a few seconds. Simba was there for about 2 hours. I'm guessing she was an outside cat before or she was just too amazed with the house.

This is Sky wanting a close-up

Sky trying to jump on top of the counter...she didn't because I told her no.

cute kities, i especially like sky. when my old kitty was new and she tried to scratch things she wasn't allowed to we just shot her with a water gun and after a while is she was doing something bad you just had to show her the gun and she'd stop. she learned pretty quick! then we also got her a braided rug that she was allowed to scratch (we put her on it and pushed her claws out and scratched the rug). anytime she wanted to scratch after that she just went to her rug.

I meant to put that Simba is the one that scratches that couch. They both have this carton thing that I bought to scratch on. They also have a cat tree but sky is the only one that scratches on it. And my chair which is too late to save already. I'm going to try soft paws for simba and maybe sky. I doubt Sky needs it but I think it'll be better if they both have equal nail strength.

They are both gorgeous, but Sky in particular has a beautiful striking face :)

Have you tried slipping their claws? I do that to mine when they ar ein teh house...they try to claw but don't have any sharp edges to catch anything with..so they kinda jut paw instead of claw ;) lol.

They also have claw covers (called SoftPaws), you super glue them on liek fake fingernails on people.

Soft Paws for sale..goood price

Cute kitties btw, I love kitties.

Thank you.
I was thinking about SoftPaws. I do clip their nails, is slipping the same thing?

And thanks bloozoo2. That face is what attracted me to her. Her personality wasnt too great at the shelter but she's a sweetheart now.

This is Simba and Sky. I was trying to get them both sleeping but Simba woke up. He's posing...lol

oh wow - both those last pics are truly gorgeous ! especially Simba's eyes.
My current cat is purely indoor and though he luckily does not scratch anything but his scratching post, but I clip his nails weekly and he certainly does no damage. I can't say I really like the look of Softpaws :/ though I know how difficult and also expensive it is to live with a destructive cat who thinks everything is a scratching post !
I think SRC meant "clipping" and not "slipping" :p
How old are they ? Did you choose them separately or were they from the same household ? How do they get along ?

Thanks :)
Simba is 2 yrs old and 3 months. Sky is about 7-8 months old. They were chosen separately. I got Simba when he was 2 weeks old because he wasn't getting enough nutrition from his mother and they were going to take the whole family to the pound (they were strays). I bottle fed him for almost 2 months and he's very spoiled. I got Sky when she was 6 months old so this was only about 2 months ago. They get along fine although they have their occassional play fights. Sky is just not use to Simba licking her all the time and he's trying to assert his dominance. They have NEVER hurt, hiss, or growl at each other so I'm guessing they're ok. I leave them in the room together already since we had to take back the empty room so she's been with Simba 24/7 for more than a week now.

lol I did mean clip .

You can get clear soft paws if you don't like the colored ones.

We use to put them on at the vet clinic I work for PT all the time...cheaper to do it yourself though lol.

My vet can do it since Simba has insurance and we don't pay for his office visit but I'd hate to put his vet through it. Simba is very mean to him :sly: so it's probably safer to do it myself as he is use to me.
