Keeping Interested?

How can I keep interested in the hobby I only have a ten gal tank which is full and can't get anymore tanks so what can I do

re scape your tank or something buy new plants.... any room for a pond

add in Co2 and a plant healthy substrate and start a journal on a planted tank pretty soon you will get into aquascaping and realise just how different the fish look against different settings and it might help you appreciate the fish more

Gt no room for pond and gt new plants the other day lol tank is really small to bother with a re scape

what fish do you have?

I have

6 catfish, forgot what type, small chubby and spotty.
3 honey gouramis, 1 male , 2 female
1 guppy
1 golden angelfish.

(cue the moans)

All healthy, got good substrate down, the black sand stuff which has all the nutrients in it etc...... and have 3 plants

Try breeding the cories. Or loose the angel and try breeding the tetras or even some shrimp.

how can I take him out lol, just put him in a cup of water for a few weeks lol. My male honey is allways making a bubble nest and mating with one of the females (she only has one eye so easily identable) but never get past that stage in the tank. not got a clue how to breed the corys there just always playing around in the group of six at the bottom of the tank

Nah, I said to lose him as he would yum up any fish fry you would produce. He also is probably the largest fish in your tank and so reduces any further stocking ideas you may have. If you want to go down the route of breeding then you could take him back to your local fish shop and see if they'll give you store credit......You could of-course try breeding angels, although that probably means all your other fish would have to go.

Researching the breeding is part of what makes it fun. Try to figure things out and ofcourse look for advice but dont ask for a step by step plan, else thats all the work done for you. How boring would that be!


Maybe try to figure out whats stopping the gouramis from raising the fry. Bet you a tenner the angel is eating the eggs.

the honeys are not making any eggs, the male makes his nest at the back of the internal fileter, but never seems to entice the lady over to do the egg laying, most of the times he chases her round the tank like mad.
