Just Got 2 Black Mollies...a Question..

I also have a female betta, 3 albino corys and 2 kribs... The female betta is acting very aggressive to the Mollies and I don't really know why because she's totally fine with everyone else. Is this going to be an issue or can they coexist? Will the betta eventually get used to the mollies? The betta was free but I paid for the mollies... Thanks.

All betta's are different. One of my males who is very old gets along with the cardinal tetras and praecox rainbows in the tank. But the moment i added an endler he tried to kill it and would not stop chasing it. So i put him in another one of my planted tanks. The best thing you can do is to remove them from the tank.

They are very hardy fish that can live with a wide range of fishes. Also a bit of salt in the tank is good for mollies so you should add some. Just make sure its aquarium salt and not reef or saltwater fish salt.

I was under the impression that pale fish dont tolerate salt well, and corys dont either? i may be wrong, i just remember reading it somewhere ??

Other livebearers are good with mollies apparently, though be prepared for babies lol

Pale fish I have never heard, however I know fish without scales such as things like loaches and catfish of all kinds don't do to well with salt. It irritates them. Same is true with snails.

I got my Cory's and Betta from a previous owner that bred both and he always put aquarium salt in his tanks and the Cory's do just fine, lively little boogers that are about a year old. Thanks for the insight. I love the Mollies.

My mollies swim all over the tank from top to bottom. Hanging by heater all day doesn't sound good -maybe they are ill or scared or bullied? Add a thick slice of courgette or cucumber weighed down with a teaspoon and they will soon come down to the bottom. Mollies love their veg!

Mollies are doing great now!! My tank sits next to my computer, so what do I see when I turn around? The mollies playing next to the Cory cats! It seems they were just shy and have now finally started swimming around and playing. The male is following the cory's back and forth across the tank and both are just having a ball now it seems.

I find that mollies are easy care fish only if you have fairly hard water. If you have the kind of water that so many people would love to have with a low pH and low hardness, mollies will die off fast. In my tanks with a GH and a KH both over 10 german degrees and a pH of 7.8 from the tap, mollies thrive and are more than ready to increase their numbers with little or no care. Mollies hovering by the heater would get my attention. Those are not happy fish. My mollies are all over their tanks and cannot be held back. As both TC and Fishnovice have observed, mollies love their veggies and are found all over the tank. Anything less is a danger signal to the fish keeper. Things may not be all that they should be in a tank where mollies merely hover in a place.
