Just A Vid Of My Syno Exploring His New Bigger Home.

just a quick video showing my (i think) featherfin syno exploring his new larger tank. he certainly seems to be enjoying the length of the tank, its over twice as long as the previous one. not a great video, to be honest im just trying to work out how to post videos up

the tank is new, im sure some of you will have noticed my barrage of questions about it and explaining why certain fish are in it - its a bit of a refugee camp for fish. it might even be slightly overstocked as it is, but ive really tried to refrain from buying new fish. its a whole lot better than where they used to live, and im well on top of water changes. lots of bits of 'stuff' in my water in teh vid, think its coming from the sand i thought i had rinsed enough, and that floating plant was the first victim of the brutish swimming style of the syno.

i got a tank given to me once with one of these in it and it was a 20 gallon.. it was 4 inches long (the fish) but i never was able to find out what it was ! and i recently found out it grows about 8 inches but i did then buy a 40 gallon and it lived in there for a year but then i had to sell the tank :'(

I got two4in ones (refugees too, unknown species but probably feahterfin syno) and one almost doubled in size afer 5 months in 4ft tank but the other one is smaller maybe 6in

oohhh.. yeh i found out a couple of weeks ago and thought ... poor fish being kept in a 20 gallon for 3 years before being given to me !! its didnt grow at all when i put it in the 40 gallon

i like how you've got an area of gravel and an area of sand. does it stay like that or does it all start to mix together after awhile?

no it stays like that all the time. i put some in incase some of the fish i had preferred gravel, and also because it meant i could 'mould' the sand into a more interesting surface than just flat.
