If you are lucky enough to catch Ich VERY early (i.e. the first spot, on the first fish!), would it be hypothetically possible to place the infected fish in a fish trap, (the type with slits around the top for water movement and a solid plastic base), wait until the trophont falls off and then immediately, return the fish to the tank - removing the trap (and hopefully the encysted tomont)? Would this help to prevent the spread of the disease in any given tank, obviously used in combination with the appropriate medications?
I'm just curious. Obviously there are many ways that this could go awry. However, would it be worth the effort?
