Journey To The Planted Side

Nope not dosing anything at all. Righto daily water changes it is, I'll do that for a week, then every other day for a week and see where I am then. I actually quite enjoy doing them ;-)
I'll sort anubas out tomorrow too.
Work not to bad finish at 23.45 :)

At least you finish today

you find the tank remains clean and the plants will thrive with daily water changes.

will need more pics soon!

50% water change has been done and anubias has been attached to a piece of bog wood, it has a lovely root system, I assume this will attach to the wood

All looking good :yahoo:

I didn't think I'd had much growth since putting the plants in, but I've just looked at the first pictures and realise that they have grown a bit, especially the red ones, so a few pictures. (Not great as taken with phone)

Learn how to grow plants first, then worry about focal points... It's a first planted tank, doesn't really need to be scaped now.

You never said that to me

I like it with the spaced reds I just thought others may say that too

I had grown a few before tho lol

I really like the red plants and they are the ones doing best. I'm not going to fiddle with anything, I like it, just wish they'd hurry up and grow

You're just remembering that I told that to Ian when he added the Ludwigia to the Trigon, but that was a mature tank.

LOLOL, now I'll probably be reviewing your journal again.

Good, Trod, don't touch anything, just keep things clean.

Great thing about adding focal points is you can do it once your happy everything is growing well, bad side is moving one plant can create a difference in the flow and cause problems. I had a scape where I moved a sword and after it blocked flow to the HC..........disaster struck. Where as if your happy with locations etc then you could add something later like wood, stones etc but keep a close eye on plants near by for growth differences or deficiencies. :) I'm rather impressed for a first try. :good:

Thanks ps3steveo, I have a piece of drift wood that i'd like to add at some stage, it's soaking in a separate tub at the moment, because when I tried to add it, it kept floating!!!!!

My thoughts are now with livestock I have been doing some research and come up with this;

8 x Golden Barb
8 x Harliquin Rasbora
8 x Blue Danio
Pair Opaline Gourami

The Barbs and Rasbora are a must I really like them, the others are negotiable :fun:

Comments please is this OK or am I over stocking????

I've just found the Gourami thread  They have now become a definate too, but I like the look of the Banded gourami might go for 1 of them instead!!!
