I have java moss, some ferns, anubias and dwarf sag in my 55 gallon tank. All other plants are thriving, but my moss is turning brown and dying. Any ideas why?

Nothing atm

Unheated right now, so about 76-79° f

I think Moss can be hard to grow.

I read some forums where some members mentioned that their moss didn't grow for up to a year or was dying....
But after many months, suddenly it began to grow...
Probably you can search the internet forums for more information.

Now, I going towards fast growing plant instead of moss...
Moss grows too slow..

I managed to find a few types of fast growing plants from my LFS.
They are even better than the Moss. I have Java Moss and Flame Moss but both are not doing well.
But my fast growing plants are doing well.
Some fast growing plants are amazing and my shrimps love them...
Find plants that do well in your tank...

When a house or garden plant doesn't seem to be thriving and I'm not sure why, I try putting it in a different spot to give it another chance. Sometimes the change makes a difference.
If you want to persist with moss, even if it looks completely brown and dead, stick it somewhere unobtrustive in the tank and leave it, it can grow back even after looking past the point of saving, has been my experience with java moss anyway. Give it a trim first - sometimes pruning encourages more vigorous growth in plants.

How mnay hours a day do you keep the light on for? What type of light do you have?

I was watching a youtube video on Java moss.
The person said that he had forgotten about his bag of Java moss as it was chucked in somewhere in his house.
After some times then only he remember it. But the moss grew back again after he took it out from the bag.

Yes, its just like terrestrial moss. If it drys up and "dies" you can just get it wet and it will grow again. (Granted it may take a while... ;))

Wow! I knew an apparently dead one could grow back from almost nothing, but that's still amazingly impressive!
I've been lucky and my java moss seems to do pretty well. Needs trimming or it gets too long.

Picture of tank? (So I can see the placement of the moss)
Cant get a picture right now. It's on driftwood and rocks towards the middle of the tank
