they are still quite small around 2.5" base colour is a light quite dull browny kinda colour with darker virtical stripes a large black spot at the base of the tail and when the dorsal fin is fully extended there are 2 subltle horizontal stripes right at the top 1 blue 1 red eyes are depending how the light catches them either blueis or gold and very shiny the caudal fin has subtle touches of red and blue in it . as i said will try and get some pics later but until then any ideas . they were given to me as jade eyed cichlid

They look like Spirulus to me mate. Will grow up to be nice fish.

deffinatly a jade eye looks identicle to my mates stunning fish when bigger

hmmm 2 opinions. i cant see any horizontal stripes on the body dave what makes you say sajicas?

hmm see what you mean from those pics nelly the red and blue along the top of the dorsal fin is there. they are a bit stressed at the moment as when those pics were taken they had just been netted out of somebodys tank then driven accros town and put into mine and my blue acara took an instant dislike to them. he still chases them a little bit but it seems to be calming down now. if either of them end up looking like the bottom pic in that link you put in your reply nelly i will be well chuffed thats 1 tasty looking fish

been scrutinising them even more now and reading in the link you pasted about males with the red fins and females with the yellow i think i may have 2 males as both have red and blue tipped dorsal fins with red/blue in the caudal fin. so if thats the case maybe they will have to be split up when they grow bigger. or will they only fight if a fermale is present?
